################################################################################ MZF-Studio Version 2.4 Copyright (C) 2005-2011 Ulrich Keller Brief instruction ################################################################################ General ------- With MZF-Studio MZF-files can be viewed, edited and converted. A MZF-file contains a file from computers of the MZ-series by the manufacturer Sharp. The following conversions are possible: MZT-file ==> MZF-file WAV-file ==> MZF-file MZF-file ==> MZT-file MZF-file ==> WAV-file MZT-files are used by several Sharp-MZ-emulators. The abovementioned WAV-files are common Windows-audiofiles. These files contain a special rushing which is in normal cases recorded from a Sharp-MZ-datasette (conversion WAV-file ==> MZF-file) or is to be recorded to a Sharp-MZ-datasette (conversion MZF-file ==> WAV-file). Further informations concerning the Sharp-MZ-series can be found for example at the internet-site www.sharpmz.org by Karl-Heinz Mau. Operating hints --------------- The usage of MZF-Studio has been designed self-illustrative as far as possible. Therefore in the following just some hints: Hexadecimal numbers are displayed in MZF-Studio with a leading dollar-character ($) and must be entered in the same way. MZ-specific characters, which do not exist on a Windows-PC, are displayed in MZF-Studio as question-marks (?). As long as the affected fields (e. g. the MZ- filename) are not edited the MZ-specific characters are preserved. Problems converting a WAV-file into a MZF-file are often caused by bad recording quality of the WAV-file. The WAV-file should be recorded ideally with one channel (mono), with a precision of 8bit and with a sample-rate of 22050Hz. To avoid tiny drop-outs in the WAV-file, no other program should run on the PC while recording the WAV-file. Restrictions ------------ Only MZF-files with a datasette-header are supported. Other headers (e. g. QuickDisk-header) are not supported. Furthermore only MZF-files with one of the following MZ-file-attributes (MZ- file-types) are supported: - Machine-language-program ($01) - MZ-80 BASIC-program ($02) - MZ-700/800 BASIC-program ($05) Even if other MZ-file-attributes can by used during editing a MZF-file, these file-attributes will NOT be specially taken into account while loading, saving or converting a MZF-file. Especially the use of the MZ-file-attributes - MZ-80 BASIC-data-file ($03) or - MZ-700/800 BASIC-data-file ($04) causes the problem of generated WAV-files which cannot be loaded by a Sharp-MZ- maschine. Terms of use ------------ This program is FREEWARE, but it must not be used commercially. System requirements ------------------- MZF-Studio requires one of the following operating systems: - Microsoft Windows 95 or newer - Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or newer Installation and uninstallation ------------------------------- MZF-Studio needs no installation or uninstallation. Starting MZF-Studio ------------------- MZF-Studio can be started by executing the file MZFStudio.exe. While executing the file MZFStudio.exe an optional command-line-parameter can be passed, which contains the filename of a MZF-file. This MZF-file will be opened during the start of the program automatically.
